LATEST NEWS The Art
Ministry joined the national Warm Welcome Spaces initiative thanks to
funding from the Government's Community Organisations Cost of Living
Fund, delivered by the National Lottery Community Fund. Warm Welcome
Spaces opened their doors to local communities across the country, offering
everyone a free, warm, welcoming and friendly space. The Art Ministry's Warm
Welcome Space, was a great place to connect with your community, to make new
friends, while spending a couple of hours doing art and craft activities get
creative and keeping warm. In November we were
awarded 14,000 by Essex County Council, 12,050 by the Community Organisations Cost of Living Fund and 1,407 by the Co-op
Community Foundation. We
had a fundraising meal at the Shagor Tandoori Restaurant on 26th October and raised just over 300. We
provided free art and craft activities at the Lions Mid Summer Sports Day and
Fun Festival for Disabled People on 29th July. You can see photos
on our Facebook page - Lions
Mid Summer Photos We
held a Seaside Summer Crafts afternoon at our base in Hadleigh
on Thursday 20th July. We were indoors and outdoors, the weather was good to
us and the event was well attended by the local community and our service
users. There were free activities and others costing just 50p or 1 and
refreshments including drink and a cake for just 1! We always strive to make
our events accessible to all. We just created two galleries, a general one and one for Coronation
crafts Thanks to funding from the Comic Relief Community Fund and Essex
County Council we were able to open up to the whole community for free our
Monday morning, 11 to 1, and Thursday afternoon, 2 to 4, creative sessions
from January to March. Thanks to additional funding from the Co-op Warm Spaces initiative we
were able to keep these sessions free until the end of April. Our Monday morning Cosy Crafts session
featured on BBC Look East on Red Nose Day due to it being funded by Comic
Relief you can read the BBC website article by clicking the link below: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cw4w90pk4dyo Welcome to The Art
Ministrys website. We are a small Essex based charity and we run art and craft
sessions for our local community to help improve their mental health and well
being. The
Art Ministry was founded in 1992 and became a registered charity in 2005. We aim
to involve members of the local community in creative activity to provide them
with opportunities for increasing social interaction, boosting self
confidence, improving self esteem and having fun to help maintain or improve
the mental health and well being. Our
regular creative sessions focus on people most likely to benefit from the
opportunity of being involved in them, namely children and adults with
learning difficulties, physical disabilities, visual impairments and/or
mental health issues. We
extend our engagement with the community by working in partnership with other
charities, schools, social housing schemes and local government to provide
children, young people and adults. We
engage an even wider audience in creative activities at an average of 10
community events each year. We are based in Hadleigh in Essex and
operate across south East Essex. See
